Lytchett Minster Community Defibrillator Project

Please note the following very useful community event in Upton.

The Lytchett Minster Community Defibrillator Project is holding a Community Defibrillator Awareness Session at Upton Junior School on Monday 14th December, between 7 and 9pm.

When it comes to cardiac events seconds really do matter so knowing how to use a defib and where they are, is the difference between life and death!

Neighbourhood Plan now available to review and feedback

The Lytchett Matravers Neighbourhood Plan Group have published their consultation via their website.

You can review the Plan, download the full document or sections of it direct from the website as well as respond using the online questionnaire. A paper version of the Plan will also be available to review at the library.

The consultation will remain open until 19th July 2015.

The LMNPG are also hosting a number of open-sessions in the library where you can meet a member of the team and discuss the Plan, but the main consultation is via the website. Details of the open-sessions can be found here. The first session is 3pm on the 8th June.

Neighbourhood Plan launching on Monday

The Lytchett Matravers Neighbourhood Plan Group will be publishing their latest Neighbourhood Plan consultation on Monday.

The consultation will primarily be via the website but there will be copies for viewing at the library as well as a number of open sessions where you can discuss the Plan and consultation with a member of the Group.

Parish Council By-Election

Due to a resignation the Parish Council are seeking villagers to come forward for an election for a new council member.

75% turnout in the village for local elections leads to Tory win

There was a 75% turnout in Lytchett Matravers on Election Day.

The results for the local elections (electing Purbeck District Councillors) have been announced today and Wendy Meadon and Peter Webb were succesful. You can see all the PDC results here.

Dorset Mid and Poole North is taken from the Liberal Democrats by Conservative Michael Tomlinson

Conservative MP, Michael Tomlinson, won the Dorset Mid & Poole elections. Mr Tomlinson replaces Liberal Democrat MP Annette Brooke as our local MP.

Message from the Village Hall committee: “to support the Village Hall future – we want to raise up to £15 K for improvements and re-modelling the toilets; various grant sources are being tapped but we also have agreement from Waitrose in Wimborne to be a green token beneficiary soon -SO – IF ANYONE gets green Waitrose Tokens – from anywhere – please save them for us; if you don’t use the Wimborne Waitrose, we’ll take them in for you; dates soon, but if you pass them on to Village Hall Committee members like Roger Emmerson or Liz Wilson, we’ll get them into the collection

Any other fundraising ideas very welcome, or events – Castle Players One Act Play and Supper evening was set up to raise funds for the hall”

Message from DCC regarding birds covered in waxy substance

The following information has been received from DCC’s Emergency Planning service. Please can you pass this information to as many people as possible.

You will be aware that there are birds being found a shore along our and others coastline and covered in a waxy substance yet to be identified.

CEFAS (Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science) has offered to store contaminated dead birds, prior to assessment. It will be necessary to “bag” the bird in a strong polythene bag, record the date and time found, together with its precise location (grid reference if possible).
